The organization is a private, non-profit corporation governed by elected officials, community leaders and target area representatives. Throughout its history, WBC Opportunities has administered a wide range of social service and economic opportunity programs benefiting many thousands of low and moderate income persons. Current programs include Head Start, Senior Nutrition (including Meals on Wheels), Emergency Assistance and Affordable Housing. WBC Opportunities has an annual operating budget of over $8 million and a staff of more than 220. |

We are responsible for the planning, oversight, and evaluation of workforce development activities in the Austin/Travis County area. We are a private, publicly-funded non-profit organization. Established in 1981, the Writers' League of Texas is a nonprofit professional organization whose primary purpose is to provide a forum for information, support, and sharing among writers, to help members improve and market their writing skills, and to promote the interests of writers and the writing community. With approximately 1,500 members nationwide, we are composed of published and unpublished writers as well as those who recognize the written word as art and simply love to read. Our name, Writers' League of Texas (formerly Austin Writers' League), reflects our membership base, over 50% of which resides outside the Central Texas area, and represents the numerous programs we offer to the entire community of Texas writers. |

Young Women's Alliance
The Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) is an organization of women that empowers its members to develop personally and professionally through educational programs and opportunities to lead, network and serve. Our membership is comprised of a diverse group of more than 300 women from different industries and varied backgrounds, ranging in age from their early 20s to late 30s. In 1997, YWA's board of directors founded the Young Women’s Alliance Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3), as a vehicle to give back to the Central Texas community. The YWA Foundation awards scholarships to high school girls and young women pursuing higher education. Zach Theatre
Founded in 1933 as Austin Civic Theatre, ZACH Theatre is the oldest continuously operating theatre in Texas and one of ten original resident theatre companies in America. The company was renamed Zachary Scott Theatre Center in 1968 in honor of Austin-raised, Academy Award-nominated film star, Zachary Scott, best known for his popular films Mildred Pierce (1945) and Cass Timberlane (1947). In 1972, the 230-seat Kleberg Theatre opened, and in the late 1980’s ZACH embarked on a successful capital campaign to build the Whisenhunt Theatre, a new 130-seat theatre-in-the-round, classroom, administrative offices and costume shop space. In the early 1990’s ZACH moved to professional status with Actor’s Equity Association and was selected for a National Endowment for the Arts Advancement Grant. |

_Manor Independent School District
Manor is located just outside the city limits of Austin on U.S. Hwy. 290 East, approximately 12 miles east of the University of Texas campus. The City of Manor was established in the mid to late 1800s and by the early 1900s was a hub for the central Texas cotton and railroad industries. Today, the Manor community has become a hub for the central Texas technology industry, with technology giants such as Applied Materials and Samsung, among others, listed on their tax role. The City of Manor is a quickly growing community and currently has a population of almost 3,200 people. A number of MISD students live within the city limits of Austin. Student Showcase: Austin High School is a collaboration between Austin High School and Forefront Austin to cultivate voices of the next generation. On a regular basis, students will develop essays that present unique perspectives in response to one of Forefront Austin’s monthly questions. The students conduct independent research, interview community leaders and author essays for publication on Forefront Austin. The student-developed essays are edited by Forefront Austin staff. Essay Contest: Question: Who are Austin's Pot-stirrers, Problem Solvers and Visionaries? Pot-stirrers. Problem solvers. Visionaries. Learning about leadership was a personal experience for 120 Austin High sophomores when they worked in teams to tackle global problems in their Austin backyards.
