Art-goers in their communities: patterns of civic and social engagement [PDF]
Type: Report [PDF]
Author/Source: National Endowment for the Arts, October 2009.

Abstract:

It may be a stereotype to believe that museum patrons are more likely to also play jazz or classical music. But did you know that museum-goers are more likely to play sports as well? A study by the National Endowment for the Arts details just how active those who who frequent activities in the arts are in their community at large. Here you can learn how adults' passion for the arts seems to increase volunteerism, children's involvement in artistic endeavors, and even dancing.
