This report is called a State of the Workforce Report, though it could just as easily be called a State of the Labor Market Report, because it addresses both supply and demand. It provides a “snapshot” of the local labor market. The report is intended to bring attention to certain trends and disparities that have both economic and social implications. Most importantly, this report is designed to serve as a community engagement tool to encourage regional dialog on addressing issues and positioning the region with a competitive workforce. The workforce issues facing the region are too complex for any one entity to solve. They require collaboration and cooperation across multiple parties.
