Improving graduation rates is the single most important thing we can do for the future of Central Texas. Without a high school diploma, a teen has virtually no viable economic future and no meaningful opportunities for further education or employment. As Central Texas grows, it creates a demand for an educated workforce. If a business cannot find a homegrown workforce, it will import one. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area (BGCAA) is helping ensure the supply of educated Central Texans to meet the growing workforce demands of the region. For 106 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs has helped kids from difficult circumstances secure their high school diplomas, master the skills to succeed in college and enter the workforce as capable employees and citizens. The BGCAA method of youth development is producing measurable success and opening a great future for our members.
Which of your personal traits is most important in making you a good leader? 
One, effective communication skills. Two, deep dedication to the promise of our mission to serve kids who need us most. Three, ability to see issues in clear terms and prioritize organizational and personal “steal sword” strategies that produce meaningful results for the organization.
