Each and every day we use the living world to pursue our goals and sustain our lives. Those activities—driving, building, consuming—impact the world around us.
The problem is not the pursuit of these activities, but the pursuit of these activities without understanding or respecting the impact of our actions.
Girl Scouts of Central Texas is helping individuals understand the impact of our lives and modeling simple steps that can offset that impact and improve our communities. The Girl Scouts Forever Green program tracks the power of saving energy and reducing CO2 will help us sustain the world that sustains us.
For 100 years, girls aged 5 through 18 live the Girl Scout motto: “Leave only footprints, take only memories.” Here are two videos from two Girls Scouts of Central Texas troops who embody that commitment and show the rest of us how simple steps add up to care for our world.

Was there a particular experience in your life that prepared you for leadership?
My leadership skill development began at an early age through my church involvement. I would always help collect the money and take the attendance in my Sunday School class and later served as the junior secretary for the Sunday School. I participated in the Girls Auxiliary which was similar to Girl Scouts in promoting leadership skills among girls. The adults in my life always encouraged me to do my best. My mother has always been and still is my biggest cheerleader. She reminds me in all things to be prayerful, follow God's direction and give 100%.
