About Gina LaMotte
Founder and Executive Director - EcoRise Youth Innovations

Gina LaMotte has over 13 years experience working in education and sustainable development. Five of these years she worked internationally with programs targeting at-risk youth in Brazil, India, Nepal and Guatemala. She has also worked on various innovative educational initiatives in the U.S. including adult immigrant programs in Harlem, New York, and Native American youth programs in Taos, New Mexico.

While in graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin, Gina studied sustainable development and social entrepreneurship and completed the Certificate Program for Non-Profit Studies at the LBJ School for Public Affairs. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and is currently undergoing LEED-GA certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

In 2008, Gina became the founding Executive Director of EcoRise Youth Innovations (formally UpLift Austin), a social venture which teaches environmental sustainability and design innovation within public schools. Gina is actively involved in Austin ISD’s Environmental Stewardship Committee and serves as the lead organizer of the Consortium for Green Schools in Austin, Texas.
