About Sarah J. Wheat

Sarah J. Wheat is the Interim Co-CEO for Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region, Austin’s most trusted provider of reproductive health care and education, serving more than 33,000 women, men and adolescents each year. In this position, Sarah oversees and directs public affairs, marketing, development, education, and communications on behalf of the nonprofit.

Prior to serving as Interim Co-CEO, Sarah served as VP for Community Affairs at Planned Parenthood. Sarah has more than 15 years of professional public affairs and nonprofit management experience including serving as Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, Legislative Assistant for a member of the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., and coordinator for an international program for students in emerging democracies based in Los Angeles.

She has a Masters Degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in English from Kenyon College.

Sarah and her husband, Tim Staley, have 3 young sons. Sarah served on the Board of Directors for GENaustin, the Texas Women’s Coalition, and on the City of Austin Commission for Women. She has earned recognition for her community involvement, including a "Good Gal" award from the National Women’s Political Caucus of Texas.
