Founded in May of 1986 as Austin's first professional opera company, Austin Lyric Opera has become a cultural touchstone for the fine arts community in the Central Texas Region and gained national acclaim as a producer of great opera. From farce to tragedy, rare to well known, and classic to contemporary, Austin Lyric Opera is committed to producing and promoting outstanding opera that will entertain, enrich and educate the central Texas community.

Austin Museum of Art has two locations, Downtown and Laguna Gloria which present an array of art experiences in the fun, informal, and collaborative spirit of Austin. AMOA is dedicated to developing and educating a broad audience for the visual arts in Austin focusing primarily on 20th-century and contemporary art. They present and originate a broad range of exhibitions designed to appeal to a general audience as well as occasional shows of more challenging work. Lively interpretative programming will emphasize interdisciplinary connections between the visual arts and other art forms and create connections to our lives today.

Austin Partners in Education (APIE) was created as an independent 501(c)(3) organization through a partnership between Austin ISD and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. By leveraging community resources, APIE provides innovative, scalable, and results-driven programs to schools across Austin. Through the flagship Classroom CoachingTM programs, volunteers encourage student engagement and support teachers on key academic objectives during the school day. These programs focus on Title I schools and students from under-resourced communities. As support for these programs increases, we are able to serve additional schools and communities.

AustinProBono was founded by Paul Janowitz – CEO and Founder of Sentient Services, LP. Our purpose is simple – to build a tool and community that connects professionals and nonprofits with pro-bono services. The nonprofits in Austin make this city an amazing place to be and operate a business. It is our goal to support them in continuing their mission and helping those in need.

Austin School of Film @ Motion Media Arts Center is a non-profit, independent film, art and technology center that supports every aspect of production from idea to distribution. Their goal is to educate, train and develop emerging artists of all ages to be active participants in shaping our 21st century culture.

In 2000, the State Theatre and the Paramount merged to form the Austin Theatre Alliance (ATA). An endeavor that began with two distinct operational and business models combined to become one of Austin's most uniquely productive performing arts organizations that both presents and produces a broad range of drama, comedy, music, dance and spoken-word events, in downtown Austin's most commanding venues.

The Austin Visual Arts Association is a non-profit arts organization composed of working artists and supporters of the arts. Established in 1977 at the suggestion of the Arts Commission, AVAA (formerly Austin Contemporary Visual Arts Association, ACVAA) is one of the oldest visual arts organizations in Austin. Founded by a group of interested artists, museum professionals and gallery owners, our stated purpose is to "encourage the knowledge, appreciation and practice of contemporary visual art." The Association offers members an art-based networking structure, an ongoing seminar series and life drawing program, as well as the opportunity to exhibit their work. In addition, AVAA provides information to its members about art events, job opportunities, gallery contacts, and current trends in the Austin art market. AVAA's vitality depends largely on the active participation of its members. AVAA is also the organizer of the industry's Austin Visual Arts Awards. Most importantly the 2011 Austin Wine & Music Festival is endeared to provide a portion of our proceeds to a CNN Hero of the Year Nominee, Dan Wallrath and the Operation Finally Home organization. We couldn't be more proud to highlight this group of life changers - remembering while we sip and swirl freely in this country we do so at the sacrifice of others.

As distinctive and dynamic as the city it calls home, Ballet Austin welcomes people near and far to participate in its "classically innovative" vision for the democratization of dance. From their bustling, urban headquarters at the Butler Dance Education Center and Community School in downtown Austin, Ballet Austin and artistic director Stephen Mills actively engage the community, dancers, and audiences alike. With a rich history spanning 53 years, a commitment to education as well as lifelong fitness, and acclaimed productions in Austin and across the nation, the organization is equally committed to the international craft of dance as it is to the community it serves. For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in downtown Austin, Texas, tells the “Story of Texas” with three floors of interactive exhibits, the special effects show, The Star of Destiny, in the Texas Spirit Theater, and Austin's only IMAX Theatre, featuring the signature large-format film, Texas: The Big Picture. A 35-foot-tall bronze Lone Star sculpture greets visitors in front of the Museum, and a colorful terrazzo floor in the Museum’s rotunda features a campfire scene with enduring themes from Texas’ past. The Museum also has a Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and a Museum Store with something for the Texan in everyone.

CapCityKids (The Capital City Fund for Education) is a non-profit organization created to help children facing homelessness beat the odds and get a quality education. CapCity Kids develops innovative programs and provides direct resources to help these students stay in school. CapCityKids provides $150,000 in grants annually to AISD for programs which discover and implement effective practices and procedures to minimize these hurdles. CapCity Kids Homepage

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County exists to promote and protect the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected, by training volunteers to advocate for them in courts, in schools and in our community to help them find safe, permanent and loving homes.

The Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center, is the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a child-friendly, specially-equipped facility where children go for recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. It is the only nonprofit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. All services are provided to children and their protective caregivers at no charge and most are available in English and Spanish.

Child Inc. is designed to be much more than even quality child care. Child Inc. is much more comprehensive than child care - it includes Health Services; Dental Services; Nutrition Services; Mental Health Services; Social Services; and Parent Training and Parent Involvement. These services either do not exist in child care programs or they are not as comprehensive. Child Inc. is required by law and regulations to achieve specific results in early education and child development and results in strengthening families.

Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. (CACTX) is the statewide membership association, representing all local children's advocacy centers (CACs) in the Lone Star State. Founded in 1994 with a membership of 13 local centers, today the CACTX membership roster includes 64 developing and established centers in large urban cities as well as in small rural communities. Our membership reflects the vast diversity of Texas, all with their own unique approaches to fulfilling our shared mission of protecting and providing for children. CACTX offices are located in the Beth C. Swalm Center in Austin, Texas, adjacent to the CACTX Conference Center where specialized CAC trainings are offered throughout the year.

The City of Austin Cultural Arts Division (CAD) of the Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services Office provides leadership and management for the City’s cultural arts programs and for the development of arts and cultural industries as an economic development strategy on behalf of the City.

The Cultural Arts Division is responsible for the Cultural Arts Funding Programs, Art In Public Places Program, community based arts development, and programs to assist the development of music, film and creative industries in Austin, as well as initiatives designed to support and encourage the community’s unique cultural identity and vitality.
