The State of Texas Children: Texas KIDS COUNT 2011[PDF/Website]
Type: Report [PDF]
Author/Source: Center for Public Policy Priorities, 2011.

Abstract:
Texas KIDS COUNT began in 1993 as an effort by the Center for Public Policy Priorities to evaluate the educational, social, economic, and physical well-being of children in Texas. Recognizing the need for quality information when making sound public policies, they assembled comprehensive data tools that span a range of topics relevant to Texas children and youth. Texas KIDS COUNT features a variety of useful tools:

  • State of Texas Children (SOTC) 2011 Data Book- the latest in an annual series of reports that provides a statewide view of the status of Texas' children, as well as some historical and policy context within which to interpret the data.
  • SOTC Data Over Time- Supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and maintained by Texas KIDS COUNT, the KIDS COUNT Data Center interactive database allows users to generate snapshots for specific years, graphs of data over time, state maps of data across counties, and/or comparative data rankings of across counties.
