What is the most rewarding thing about working in education?
The opportunity to work with students and their families on a daily basis to help them find reason and purpose in their education as the school helps to foster their spiritual development.
What is the one thing you want to tell the Austin community about your organization?
St. Michael’s Catholic Academy is a jewel in Austin’s velvet crown. It provides a quality education for the current students while preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow. We strive to inspire them for live.
What is the most significant issue you would like to be able to solve?
: I would like for St. Michael’s to continue to bring awareness to our students and the community on the importance of self-respect, self-reflection, and the need for compassion.
How long have you been in Austin, and what brought you here?
My husband and I have lived in Austin since 1998. We moved from the Bryan-College Station area when I was hired by Holt, Rinehart and Winston to work in the Social Studies editorial department.
What is one thing you wished you studied in school?
While at The University of Texas I participated in a joint project between urban studies and architecture. I became fascinated with the field of design but was too far along in my studies to change. After my children were all in school I enrolled in architecture at Texas A&M and feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to pursue that dream.
